As part of an Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF) project, we are running a series of regional events throughout England to highlight the opportunities for creating important wildlife habitat through minerals planning. We will be concentrating in particular on the developing Minerals Development Frameworks, bringing together ideas from across the country on how these documents can be used to make real gains for people and for wildlife. The East of England event will be held in December, and we would be delighted to see as many of you there as possible. The event will be relevant to all minerals planners (strategic/ policy, development control and enforcement), the minerals industry (particularly restoration and estates managers), statutory consultees in the minerals planning process (e.g. Environment Agency, Natural England), and interested non-governmental organisations (e.g. the Wildlife Trusts, RIGS groups).
The event will take place over one and a half days on the 5th and 6th of December at Over Community and Conference Centre, near Cambridge. Thanks to our ALSF funding the event will be free of charge, with lunch and refreshments provided. You will have an opportunity to see the restoration at the award-winning Hanson-RSPB wetland project at Needingworth.
Please see the attached document for further details. If you would like to attend the event, please email Marian Bicknell at marian.bicknell@rspb.org.uk, quoting the East of England event and stating any dietary requirements.
